was going away. He then said, “I will come back and take you to be with me” (John 14:3). This event is called the Rapture. They will then join with believers from throughout the ages in the final resurrection—the instant when our mortal bodies will be transformed into the like ness of our resurrected Lord Jesus Christ. Paul says, “Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:51–52). The dust that returned to the earth in death will become Heaven-bound life with Christ—in the twinkling of an eye.
