Will there be night or darkness in Heaven?
T here will be no darkness in Heaven. The Bible says, “The city [of God] does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. . . . there will be no night there” (Revelation 21:23, 25). Darkness is often the backdrop for evil works and secrecy. Scripture says, “Men loved darkness instead of light . . . and will not come into the light for fear that [their] deeds will be exposed” (John 3:19–20). Judas led a mob “carrying torches, lanterns and weapons” to Jesus, betraying our Lord in the darkness of night (John 18:3). As believers, however, “we do not belong to the night or to the darkness” (1 Thessalonians 5:5). When light shines in the night, however, it can bring a ray of hope.
