Which is more important, learning how to live in this life or preparing for the next life?

B oth are equally important in God’s eyes. Which wing of an airplane is more important—the right wing or the left? You know the answer: both are equally important, and if either one is missing, the plane simply can’t fly. And the same is true of our faith in Christ. If we concentrate on only one of these, life will be out of balance—or hang in the balance. We won’t be living the way God wants us to live, nor will we experi ence the full measure of His blessing and hope that He has in store for those who love Him. James said, “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead” (James 2:26). God is concerned about our lives right now, and the most important thing about the present life is to settle the afterlife. This life gives us a glorious opportunity to
