in Heaven? Paul reminds us that in a flash, we will be changed (1 Corinthians 15:51–55). In the meantime, it’s impossible to be at peace with ourselves and with others if we have an unforgiving heart, which is a sin. The Bible says, “Everyone who has this hope in [Christ] purifies himself, just as [Christ] is pure” (1 John 3:3). Guilt and unforgiving feelings are the focal point of much psychiatric counseling. So tremendous is the weight of our guilt that the great and glorious truth of God’s forgiveness should encourage every believer in Jesus Christ. God’s goodness in forgiving us means even more when we realize that—through faith in Christ— we are without guilt in God’s sight; we are clothed forever with Christ’s righteousness. The only reason our sins can be forgiven is because Jesus Christ paid their full penalty on the cross. The Bible tells us that a sinful mind is hostile to God (Romans 8:7), but in Heaven we will have total peace (Luke 19:38). We will be completely changed when we
